Koala's!

Though often called the koala "bear," this cuddly animal is not a bear at all; it is a marsupial, or pouched mammal. After giving birth, a female koala carries her baby in her pouch for about six months. When the infant emerges, it rides on its mother's back or clings to her belly, accompanying her everywhere until it is about a year old. Koalas live in eastern Australia, where the eucalyptus trees they love are most plentiful. In fact, they rarely leave these trees, and their sharp claws and disposable digits easily keep them aloft. During the day they doze, tucked into forks or nooks in the trees, sleeping for up to 18 hours(That's Lazy!). When not asleep a koala feeds on eucalyptus leaves, especially at night. Koalas do not drink much water and they get most of their moisture from these leaves. Each animal eats a tremendous amount for its size, about two and a half pounds of leaves a day. Koalas even store snacks of leaves in pouches in their cheeks. These plump, fuzzy mammals were widely hunted during the 1920s and 1930s, and their populations plunged. Helped by reintroduction, they have reappeared over much of their former range, but their populations are smaller and scattered. Koalas need a lot of space, about a hundred trees per animal, a pressing problem as Australia's woodlands continue to shrink.

The Emperor Penguin!

Emperors are the largest of all penguins an average bird stands some 45 inches tall. These flightless animals live on the Antarctic ice and in the frigid surrounding waters. Penguins employ physiological adaptations and cooperative behaviors in order to deal with an incredibly harsh environment, where wind chills can reach -76°F. They huddle together to escape wind and conserve warmth. Individuals take turns moving to the group's protected and relatively toasty interior. Once a penguin has warmed a bit it will move to the perimeter of the group so that others can enjoy protection from the icy elements. Penguins are birds but they cannot fly and they are carnivores, and can weigh up to 88lbs.

Emperor penguins are by far my favorite bird there is because they are so adorable and cool looking, and they can slide on their belly and they hunt under the icy water for their food. What isn’t there to like about them? Some have really cool designs on them to look more presentable for the females. I Chose this animals because ever since I was a kid I really wanted a penguin to have as my own. I could move to the arctic and make a igloo for me to live in outside of the penguin colony. Well that’s all I have to really talk about penguins other than they are the coolest birds on the planet!

Polar Bears!

Polar bears are bears that live in the arctic region. Polar bears roam the Arctic ice sheets and swim in that region's coastal waters. They are very strong swimmers, and their large front paws, which they use to paddle, are slightly webbed. Some polar bears have been seen swimming hundreds of miles from land, though they probably cover most of that distance by floating on sheets of ice. Polar bears live in one of the planet's coldest environments and depend on a thick coat of insulated fur, which covers a warming layer of fat. Fur even grows on the bottom of their paws, which protects against cold surfaces and provides a good grip on ice. The bear's stark white coat provides camouflage in surrounding snow and ice. But under their fur, polar bears have black skin, the better to soak in the sun's warming rays. These powerful predators typically prey on seals. In search of this quarry they frequent areas of shifting, cracking ice where seals may surface to breathe air. They also stalk ice edges and breathing holes. If the opportunity presents itself, polar bears will also consume carcasses, such as those of dead whales. These Arctic giants are the masters of their environment and have no natural enemies. Polar bears are really interesting mammals that can live in the heart of the arctic. I chose them because i always wanted to have a baby polar bear when i was little because they were so adorable.

The Most Unique of Them All!

No animal has a more distinctive coat than the zebra. Each animal's stripes are as unique as fingerprints; no two are exactly alike although each of the three species has its own general pattern. Zebras are social animals that spend time in herds. They graze together, primarily on grass, and even groom one another. Zebras must be constantly wary of lions and hyenas. A herd has many eyes alert to danger. If an animal is attacked, its family will come to its defense, circling the wounded zebra and attempting to drive off predators. Zebras are mammals that have the diet of a herbivore. The average life span of a zebra in the wild is about 25 years. When zebras become full grown they grow to be about 3 to 5 feet tall and about 450 to 1000lbs.

The reason I chose to write about a zebra is because they are like the most unique animal there is because their coat color. Scientist still has never figured out exactly why their coat is like this. There is theories that the coat is used to for camouflage because, other animals cannot tell how many there is if they are running in a herd. Another theory is that zebras use the stripes to help them to recognize each other. Well Zebras in my opinion are the most unique out of the wild animals and I think they are really cool animals other than they are the prey for a lot of the animals out there.

Giants of the Wild!

This time around it is the giants of the wild, yes you guessed it Elephants! African elephants are the largest land animals on Earth. They are slightly larger than their Asian cousins and can be identified by their larger ears that look somewhat like the continent of Africa. An elephant's trunk is actually a long nose used for smelling, breathing, trumpeting, drinking, and also for grabbing things—especially a potential meal. The trunk alone contains about 100,000 different muscles. African elephants have two fingerlike features on the end of their trunk that they can use to grab small items. Elephants are from Africa mainly and are herbivores. Elephants grow from 8.6 to 13 feet tell at the shoulder.
I would consider Elephants to be the giants of the wild animals because they are almost 5 times bigger than any other wild animal. Elephants get as big as 5,000lbs to 15,000lbs. They could weigh as much as 5 middle weight cars. The elephant’s big ears do help them keep cool in Africa’s hot climate and also they can use their trunks to pick up things and spray themselves with water to cool them off. Elephants are one of my favorite animals because they are just the most enormous land animal there is. People back in the old days actually rode elephants as transportation. Okay well there is my post on Elephants, they are actually really friendly cool animals.

Ruler of the Wild Animals!

Lions are huge feline animals and often called the king of the jungle because their size and appearance. These lions can exceed over 250 Kg full grown so they even look like a big king. The lion is a mammal and is a carnivore in which it eats meat as its main diet. The lions young usually don’t hunt with the other lions until the baby turn one years old. Lions grow as long as 4-6 feet when they become an adult. Only male lions boast manes, the impressive fringe of long hair that encircles their heads. Males defend the pride's territory, which may include some 100 square miles (259 square kilometers) of grasslands, scrub, or open woodlands.
If I had a choice on what animal was the king of wild animals I would have to say the lion is just because how this animal shows itself in the wild. Male’s big mane shows its dominance to other animals. They are also very cool animals by just the way they look, they have an amazing look to them and they are a huge predator and almost eat every other animal that is near them. It’s interesting how these feline animals simply mark their territory just by urine. Lions are my second favorite animal so that it why I wrote about them today. All in all lions are in my opinion are the kings and queens of the wild animal families.
